Rincon Rotary helps Palo Verde High teach marine biology in the desert.

Palo Verde High Teacher Patricia Wheeler and Rotary LOCAL benefactor Eric J. Del Monaco unpack marine biology samples.

Mrs. Wheeler requested an updated specimen collection to benefit the 112 students enrolled in the Marine Biology classes at Palo Verde Magnet High School. The Rincon Rotary was enthralled with this innovative program and gladly decided to support her request. One of Mrs Wheeler's students, Jason Newey, researched the proper kit to order and, in anticipation of the grant, arranged the classroom cabinets to be display cases modeled from photos of the Natural History Museum at the Smithsonian.

The Rotary LOCAL Program's mission is to help improve the local community through educational outreach. Rotary LOCAL can provide manpower, resources from local business partners, or in some cases, direct financial support to teachers who apply for assistance.
