Corina Charles at Keeling Elementary requested an electronic cutting machine to help shift to a more hands-on, activities-based classroom environment. The machine helps students create custom items, such as handmade cards for hospitalized veterans, signs for the school’s garden, learning tools for all grades, and displays for family events and gatherings at the school. The Rincon Rotary was delighted to discover that such a tool exists, and even more joyous to help deploy it in a classroom.
The Rincon Rotary's support is part of its Rotary LOCAL program, whose mission is to help improve the local community through educational outreach. Rotary LOCAL can provide manpower, resources from local business partners, or in some cases, direct financial support to teachers who apply for assistance. Rotary LOCAL is funded in part by our annual Taste of Chocolate event, a great way to sample local sweets and help teachers at the same time.
